Naxos 3 May Mountain of the Cyclades

Our winding route
Today David took the easy option to make sure I was OK walking in New Balance trainers with no tread but using my trekking pole.  Many of those choosing the easy way said it was much harder than on previous days.  However, I was very happy – no ankle problem and light-footed.
We began our 10 km walk in the village of Filoti, walking up through rocky tracks and some bitumen, past cultivated fields and stopping for lunch at the Monastery of Fotodotis Christos, dating back to Byzantine times. Our trek ended at Apeiranthos which has marble paved streets -  and tavernas!

Only 3 people chose the hard walk to the summit of Mt Zas, 1001m.
