Athens to Milan 11-12 May

Because of the general strike, we  could not visit any museums except the Acropolis, so we walked a long way up to the Philopassos Monument which we had seen from the Parthenon.  It was a bushwalk on a good track up the hill, with no flowers and the same views we had already seen.  The only surprises were 2 campsites (unofficial we're sure), one with small carved planes and Indian heads nailed to the 'entrance' tree.

That night we revisited the "sardine' restaurant for dinner, this time sharing 6 small fried striped red mullet, grilled red peppers and baba ganoush, all very nice.
Spent 35 euros on a taxi to the airport - worth every cent for the convenience and peace of mind.
The Easyjet flight was better than expected - efficient, Airbus looked new, cheap snacks available on board.  They were strict about weight and the seats don't recline.  We chose free seating as did most people, so we made sure we lined up early to sit together.  However, there was no need to fuss.  At Milan we took an airport bus to Centrale, then a taxi to our apartment.
Bedroom has TV, computer desk & garden courtyard
The photos on the web were very poor and we expected a modern cramped place with no ambience.  Not so.  Just a glass door onto the street, but beyond a very large courtyard with roses in bloom and around 60 apartments on 4 levels.
Dining/living area
We had a ground floor (but there’s a lift).
Two doors down is an excellent restaurant, Mio, where we wined and dined for 60 euros – first course of octopus, main of whole baked fish, expertly boned, served with dish of baked tomatoes, olives and potatoes.  One block away is a good pizzeria – last night we had asparagus, mozzarella and egg for 6 euros.
