Naxos 6 May Waters to Chora

I'm determined to catch up with this blogging, so 5am in Athens is a good time to work.  It takes me ages to get the layout anywhere near acceptable - images seem to drift to odd places!  I tried Picassa on Jan's suggestion but couldn't master putting the images here.  Suzy probably knows what to do.  David can help by editing the HTML.
This day, according to Hf Holidays, we walked along the one river that flows all year.  Quote:
Travelling due east from Chora we visit the village of Kinidaros, known locally as ‘the ones who have fun’.  At the side of the road are the remains of an 11km aqueduct built in 530BC to take water to Chora from the river . Today this river still supplies Chora but with a new pipeline.  As we descend to the river we will see the 18th century church of Agios Artemios, the largest church outside the city of Naxos.  Following the stream downhill there are many small pools ...,  Our walk ends in Engares where we may have the opportunity to visit a newly restored olive press in the ownership of our hotel host.

I did the hard walk, 11.8 km; my total 'mileage' in 4 walks was 50 km; David walked 5 days.  Weather was cool and windy to start.

Path featured little yellow flowers (camomile?) with pineapple scent.
We sat on bridge to eat lunch.

The olive museum was impressive.  Nicoletta Lianos showed a DVD about oil production and told us of her family's success in getting 59,000 euros from the European Union to set up the building.  In return, the family has to allow free visitation and sell nothing there until 2014 (?), despite having put much of their money into the enterprise.
